Use Floral Displays During And After A Cremation Ceremony

Blog

A funeral wreath, floral sprays, and bouquets of fresh-cut flowers will add a soft scent and delicate visuals to the outdoor area that you have selected for your mother's cremation ceremony. If you are going to tie the environment into the ash-spreading process, plan how you would like to execute the transition from sitting down to walking along a riverbank or grove where the ashes will be dispersed.

A Canopy And Moveable Displays

Choose public land that borders a scenic feature that your loved one was fond of or select a private plot that you or a family member own, that was frequented often by your mother. After deciding if you are going to spread the ashes in a body of water or on dry land, set up the seating area nearby. A canopy can be used to cover the seating area, and this will prevent harsh sunlight from interfering with each guest's visibility.

Moveable displays can be used to hold the wreath that will be secured around your mom's urn. Use floral sprays to beautify the entrance or exit area that you have set up under the canopy. Floral bouquets that are going to be placed inside of vases can be set up on a cart or a moveable shelf display. A large wagon or flatbed style of cart with a handle can be used to move all of the flowers and the urn, once the cremation service is over.

Plenty Of Time To View The Urn And Decor

The people who attend the service should be provided with ample time to view the floral displays and urn. Encourage everyone to filter into the viewing area and stand next to the arrangements and urn. During this process, people can pay their respects by praying quietly or by reflecting upon the recently deceased. Right before the service is due to end, alert your guests to the ash-spreading ceremony. This information can also be printed in the bulletins that are handed out to the guests.

Use the wagon or flatbed cart to transport the flowers and the urn to the chosen spot. After everyone has gathered around the items, speak aloud about your mother, prior to removing the top from the urn and gently tipping the container, to release her ashes. After finishing this symbolic ritual, place some of the flower displays next to the spot where the ashes have been poured.
